Guenther J. Gehart was born in Zwingendorf, Austria and came to Los Angeles, California, as a teenage boy, where he later met his wife Anna. They raised their three children John, Diane, and Joanne in Agoura Hills. Their son John became an attorney and now has his own law firm in downtown Los Angeles. Diane earned a Ph.D. degree in Counseling and is teaching Marriage and Family Counseling at the University of Northridge (CSUN), as well as working in her own private practice. Joanne earned her Master's degree in Education and is teaching in Santa Cruz, California, where she lives with her husband and two children.

At age 50 Guenther enrolled at UCLA and earned his degree in Computer Graphics. At age 59 he started his own company, Displaytronix, a high tech firm that repairs LCD panels. After six years of successfully building the company, it was sold to Celestica, and Guenther, after working 50 years, retired.
