Mugsy and Stump are two extraordinary cats whose owners will not let them into a certain room, where they previously had full access. Stump, glimpsing a wrapped bundle in the room, believes the humans have a surprise present for them, and goes to great lengths to find out what it is. Mugsy, already knows that the “bundle” is a new baby, and he grows quite tired of Stump’s relentless pursuit of the “present” fantasy.
In the end, the cats meet the baby, and Stump is forced to admit to Mugsy that he might have been wrong. When he inspects the baby, however, he maintains his belief that the humans have given the cats the best present possible.

Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After 4 years in Seattle, WA, getting a bachelor's degree inphotography from the Univeristy of Washington, I commenced a dual role of professional musician and public relations director. A few years later I started selling real estate, and fater 12 years of that, became an attorney, practicing in the Sacramento, California area. That eventually took me to the Fresno, California area, where I am biding my time, waiting to see where I retire. During my 30+ years in Sacramento, I started writing children's books, and took it up a bit more aggressively after adopting my son from Russia. He liked my stories, and we read so many books, I sometimes needed to fill in with new ones of my own. I look forward to the day when I can call writing my full-time career.
