As US travel to Cuba began to expand, Garcia was presented with the opportunity to shoot stills for a documentary. With the documentary being filmed in 5 major cities with small towns in between Garcia was able to capture a diverse Cuban lifestyle on his free time. From cigar-factory workers to prostitutes, children playing during recess in Havana to farmers in the rich countryside of Holguin. Garcia believes his photos of everyday life will reveal surprising similarities between various cultures and the unfamiliarity of the Cuban lifestyle. “I wanted to bring back honest portraits of the Cuban people and show family and friends it wasn't a scary communist place.” The portraits were shot on medium format film with a Hasselblad camera.
