"Playing in Traffic" is a photo essay which journals my 8-year experience on the road as a truck driver. But within the pages I also explore sub-themes such as road safety, creativity, approaching life as an artist, doing the best you can with what you have, and career choices.
The book begins simply looking at the road and exploring some unique experiences professional drivers face, but then explores some of the darker side of life on the road.
The images in the book start out primarily with black & white but then transition into color as the theme shifts to discuss work and life as an artist in whatever career you have chosen.
The book closes with a look at the beauty that surrounds each of us every day if we are willing to take notice of it.
I hope you enjoy the book.
What people are saying:
"I just read through your entire book – it’s amazing. The use of unusual images, color and your commentary make it a stunning work. And I think the perspective of coming from an actual truck driver adds immeasurably. I suspect we don’t commonly expect a truck driver to have artistic eyes. Your use of images really did take me into that world and allowed me to experience life from the road in a fresh new way. Thanks for the trip"
