Around the Horn on 42 Meals is the story of two adventurous seniors who set out to retrace the route of Magellan, Drake and Darwin. Their only resources for this timeless challenge are four friends, 1930 other fellow travelers, and a credit card. And a crew of 916 including a large galley staff who served 42 meals during the two-week voyage. That is, per-person, for a total of almost 120,000 meals in all. Not counting snacks.
This update on the voyage of the Beagle collects nearly as many images as Darwin collected specimens. The best of these are gathered together here, illustrating coastal Chile from Valparaiso south through the Strait of Magellan to Punta Arenas, and coastal Argentina from Ushuaia and Cape Horn north to Buenos Aires. 42 Meals includes a special section on Argentina’s beguiling capital city where an additional 21 meals were consumed, almost all of them beef.
