Marianna Kearney tells the story of her and her husband's witnessing the May 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens from seven miles away.
With remarkable eruption photos by Ty Kearney, paintings by Marianna Kearney, and additional photos by Alan Kearney.
Marianna Kearney studied art in Detroit, moved to Portland, OR in 1945, and worked several years as a commercial artist. She worked on a fire lookout for seven summers in the 1960's, and has painted watercolors all of her life.
