My photobook about Art Fairs came out at the end of 2009 (publisher d’jonge Hond,/ISBN 987-90-89101-48-8 / NUR 653). I photographed at important Art Fairs such as Frieze Art Fair, Paris Photo, Art Basel, etc. I tried to show in this photo project the ‘condition humaine’.

In my new photo project Before and After the Art Fair the ‘condition humaine’ is not a matter of prime importance to me anymore.
I am now especially interested in the visual arts displayed and in the peculiar phenomenon that sometimes appears during work done at art fairs, when spontaneous ‘installations’ occur with their own beauty and significance.
There is more emphasis on images without people. If people are shown they should be seen as ‘stills’ from a performance.

For this BLURB photobook I took pictures at five Dutch Art Fairs: Art Amsterdam 2010, PAN Amsterdam 2010, Arti The Hague 2010, Realisme Fair 2011 and Art Rotterdam 2011.

This Blurb book is primarily intended to sort out which choices will have to be made for the next period of this photo project. And it will also be a way to show others my portfolio on the subject after one year of taking pictures.
