This is a distillation of 30 visits to China over 19 years chasing the last steam trains on earth. Hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves.

About the Author

Michael Rhodes
nobleman1058 Attleborough, Norfolk, UK

Born in 1960, my fascination in railways started at an early age and since 1972 I have combined my interest in railways with a passion for photography. After training in surgery between arrival at medical school in 1978 and appointment as a laparoscopic surgeon in 1995, I have continued to take time out to photograph railways all over the world. Out in the real "non-blurb" world I have had 18 books published and my first blurb book - "Requiem for Extreme Steam" was inspired by the efforts of fellow photographer Anthony Guppy and his book about Tehachapi. Married to Irene, we have five children and hope to slow down in our 50s!
