Discovered in 1898, neon is a rare atmospheric gas that glows when heated with electricity. In 1902, French inventor Claude Georges was the first person to harness this glow in the form of a lamp. Since that time neon lights have become an iconic fixture in an ever changing society. Though the neon signs we see now a days are more often a mixture of different gases used to achieve the variety of colors, these signs have become beacons of society, leading us to restaurants, movie theaters, and stores.
