About the Book
Mobilesing is a collection of photographs captured by an iPhone throughout its first year of use (mid-2010 to mid-2011). Shot almost entirely in Lisbon, it reflects the everyday routes and stops of the photographer, and takes advantage of the "sketchbook personality" that phone cameras allow individuals to develop and pursue — it is, in its own way, a sort of pictorial Moleskine. Having never intended to be a self-proclaimed photographic project in itself, it nevertheless reveals both the intrinsic possibilities of day-to-day use, and the multitude of digital processes which are applied almost in real-time to the images that are exposed — and how that, to a certain extent, may change the way in which photographers think about photography, while using their camera phone instead of a "real" camera.
The snapshots range from calculated framing and lighting experiences, to a simple, random pressing of the "shutter" button, whose results are later assessed at the editing stage for the true value of the element.
