About the Book
Wildflowers grow in sometimes hostile environments and in places where you might least expect to find them. We find them on the roadside, across the fields, from a woodland trail, in deep gullies, and on steep hillsides. Yet, until we pause and take the time to observe at close hand can we rarely appreciate their exquisite beauty, extraordinary diversity, and simple uniqueness. To study wildflowers through the lens of a camera gives the opportunity to see how tenderly nature cares for itself; how it quietly goes about its business, how through winter storm, spring flood, and summer drought it consistently provides the array of simple color, shape and texture that decorate the countryside.
This book of Bob Miller’s wildflower photographs is dedicated to Home Nursing Agency Healthcare of Bedford County. In the final months of Bob’s life they devotedly cared for Bob through the hostilities of his Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease). It’s hard to imagine a group of people more dedicated to their cause. Through moments of levity, pain, memories, and great tenderness they, like the wildflowers of the countryside, quietly went about their business as the true professional caregivers they are. Bob’s family will be forever grateful.
All of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Home Nursing Agency Healthcare of Bedford County in Bob Miller’s memory.
