This book offers a fascinating insight into the artistic inspiration and day to day lives of two felters seperated by the Irish Sea. Through the internet, blogging and their love of fibre Chrissie and Nicola met online, started to correspond and could now be considered the best of friends!
They discovered how similar their work ethos was and how their surrounding landscapes inspired, whether the mountains of Ireland or the hills of Teesdale. This book is a joint venture as they discover new fibres, new methods of translating their inspiration into felt and new ways of sharing this knowledge with others. It's not a book aimed as a 'be all and end all' of felting techniques but rather a glimpse into the working lives and inspiration of two totally dedicated felters.
Natural habitat, the built landscape, found objects, recycled materials, shared knowledge, a remembered colour, the shape of a pebble, these are all starting points for many of the felt projects shared in this book.
