In the spring of 2011, Maugham School fifth graders participated in an artist in residence program with children's book author and illustrator, Dar Hosta, where they would mimic the writing and art techniques that Dar uses in her books. The children used rhyming couplets and collage to create a series of AMAZING animal books, and this is one of them!
Program Information can be found at www.darhosta.com.
Dar Hosta is a children's book author, illustrator and owner of independent publishing company, Brown Dog Books. The books here on Blurb represent her work as a certified educator and visiting author and illustrator. During Hosta's artist-in-residence programs, children work with her to write and illustrate collaborative picture books in the style of Dar Hosta's books. They use alliteration and rhyme for the writing and the technique of collage for the illustrations. Information on Dar Hosta and her educational programs can be found at www.darhosta.com.
