About the Book
from somewhere is a love letter - through photographs and essays - to family and hometowns.
From the introduction...
To capture a moment in someone’s life is to freeze a piece of their story: a smile, a laugh, a sparkle in the eyes, a shared instant between two people. It’s at once singular and timeless. In photography and writing, personal perspective is a good thing. After the birth of my son, as is the case for many new mothers, I found myself with my camera always in hand. When that hobby bloomed into something more serious, I discovered that I wanted to document something beyond myself, but still very personal: my family.
Of course, I haven’t even scratched the surface of my family’s history, but this is my start. With stories and photography new and old, I set out to rediscover, nurture and share my senses of adventure and creativity, and through them, to tell my story through the story of my family.
