About the Book
The prominent author, Anais Nin, said "We write to taste life twice, in the moment, and in retrospection."
The works presented in this book are a celebration of the fifth graders who have grown tremendously in their written expression. What is unseen, are the endless hours of study, journaling, prewriting, drafting, revising, submitting, (more revision), editing, struggling, discarding, using new media, publishing and starting anew.
As much as I have taught students using the writer's workshop this year, I, perhaps, have learned more about the craft of writing, and the dedication it takes to make continuous strides on this path. To that end, I am grateful to beginning my own journey with this group of writers here at Canterbury.
It is my hope that the reader will enjoy this brief snapshot of the authors, and their 5th grade lives on pages...
