Carnaval, Carnival, Mardi Gras.
Whatever you call it is full of outrageously extreme costume, brilliantly bright colour, shrill earpiercing whistles and rhythmic drum beating. But what makes this annual spectacle super special is the Carnavaleros who year after year celebrate this event as if it was the their last chance to party ever. Then the following year they all come out and do it again.

This book is my record of 3 days in the Carnaval calender in March 2011. Hopefully I have captured something of the emotion and the spirit that makes the Gala Election of the Carnaval Queen, the official opening parade, and the grand parade on Shrove Tuesday , and which has made the Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife one of the biggest in the world.

Thanks for looking.
