A journey through a town in the mountains that was evacuated in 1984 by the EPA, because of contaminate poisons in the soil and water. The mine in the town was poisoning the water supply of another town down river, so the people of the town were given 24 hours to evacuate.
A friend and I spent two days exploring the town so that I could document the decay. It was a very frightening place to try and sleep at night. The slamming of doors in the wind, and the creaking of rotting wood, kept me awake until sunrise.
We did get quite a few hours of exhilarating exploration, and I returned with over a thousand photos.
This is only the first installment of this series. . .

You have done a fabulous job of capturing the elegant beauty amidst the decay. My kind of photos. Congratulations! Can't wait to see the next installment. Thanks for sharing.
