This book is the prequel of an ongoing series of books constituting a photo-essay of the earthquakes which struck Christchurch, New Zealand starting with a 7.1 magnitude earthquake and over 5000 aftershocks of which a 6.3 example was close, shallow, and very destructive claiming 182 lives. Sixteen office towers, and almost all hotels are to be demolished as are 1,200 business premises, and 30,000 houses including mine. There are major reticulation problems in the city, and there is no sewerage where I live. For a couple of months there wasnn't any reticulated water, and electricity was supplied by a generator.
The first third of the book focuses on the relatively mild aspects of the 7.1 event, and things get worse ! The cut-off date for the first edition is 20th May 2011 and this because the central business district is cordoned off for public safety.
The completed books in the series have 440 pages with 850 photographs, and are listed in my "Author's Bookstore" as "Earthquakes, Christchurch, New Zealand."
