About the Creator
Kimbal Quist Bumstead (UK/NL b. 1986) is an interdisciplinary artist based in London. He trained in Fine Art at the University of Leeds and the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, followed by a Masters degree in Performance and Theatre from Queen Mary University of London. His paintings are currently represented at the GX Gallery, Orso Major, and Jane Newbery galleries in London. His paintings have been included in various corporate and private collections. Kimbal’s abstract work is material-based and process-led: it explores the notion of layering from both a conceptual and material standpoint. His paintings are records of the passage of time, bearing traces of a dialogue between himself and the materials. His work is playful and colourful, explosive and pensive; transluscent layers of varnish and oil paint interact and flow, like the meeting of imaginary worlds, colliding and uniting.
