Queen's Day (Koninginnedag) in Amsterdam is a unique event
on the 30th of April each year.

It is the birthday
celebration of
Queen Beatrix of
the Netherlands.

In reality her birthday is on
the 31st of January but in
Amsterdam the winter is an
inappropriate time to
celebrate outside.

Queen Beatrix officially
celebrates her birthday
on the 30th of April, originally
the birthday of her mother.
On this date there is a
better chance for good
weather.
Isn't the Queen lovely?

This day is an opportune occasion for the well-known Orange Craze. The colour refers to the name of the royal family, the House of Orange- Nassau. The city turns into a boundless sea of orange revelry.

Queen's day attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, which
makes the city crowded beyond any acceptable norms.
Despite overcrowding, the atmosphere on Queen's Day is traditionally
relaxed and joyful.

I am pleased to invite you to enjoy this fantastic atmosphere !
