About the Book
Angola holds a special place in my family's history; my grandparents were missionaries there and my mom grew up there. The photographs contained herein were taken on my first visit, and I found a country that I had known in my dreams and false memories, a place that had been revealed to me through my mom's bedtime stories, a place I felt I had been before but had not seen. I was finding things I forgot I had lost, revisiting memories I never had.
Here is a collection of photographs, curated from more than 1,500, depicting the people, cities and countryside of Angola as I saw them in August 2010, along with a foreword and notes from my mom, Nancy Henderson-James, an author in her own right.
