"Fire and Ice for a Local Planet" is a template photo journal, a catalyst for 'change.' It encourages communal effort & awareness of the fact that our planet is in need of ecological preservation. Steve's message is one that inspires aesthetic appreciation, though clearly it goes beyond Nature's captivating glamour: He urges us all to take action. He leads the viewer into a world of positive outcomes, as demonstrated by example at the Heller Nature Center, advising us to "Think globally, act locally" for a healthier planet.

70 photographs and 68 pages, by photographer Steve Greenberg, document his narrative of an ongoing successful 22 year environmental restoration project undertaken by local volunteers.

A portion of the proceeds of each book purchased are used to support Heller Nature Center and the Natural Areas Volunteer Program.

Both poetic and pragmatic, it's an artfully conceived book. The prairie landscape takes center stage-- there's a need to conserve, observe and embrace the natural environment. Got my signed copy a few days ago, proud to own it, inspiring. Thanks SG.

This book illustrates a wonderful marriage between art and ecology. It could be used as a school textbook, being a comprehensive illustration of the local flora. I love the way Steve became involved in the project as an activist and photographer, falling in love with the region's biodiversity and striving to save it through his photo essay. His passion for the history and preservation of the area is evident in this well-executed publication. Thanks!
