I took these photographs in my grandparents' house in 1989. I was 27 at the time and had the urge to preserve some memories of their home and a part of my childhood. As a kid I used to play on the stairs – painted in a special color called Ochsenblut in German, or "oxblood." I loved the old doors with their old-fashioned handles and the mood of these rooms.
