About the Book
The short story and photographs in this book have been snagged from the collected writings and images of the Thursday Night Kayakers. This loose-knit group of paddlers has been plying San Francisco Bay since 1998, weather fair or foul.
Most Thursday night paddles, as the name implies, are nighttime affairs, usually launching two to three hours before sunset and returning two to three hours after nightfall. The outing documented here is unusual in that it began at sunrise and ended two hours before sunset, Friday rather than Thursday.
Following each outing, the author pens a paddle report. This particular tale chronicles the events of 3 February 2006. The accompanying photographs were taken over a stretch of 5 years.
