Simply put, Meredith Craig loves her job. City librarian isn’t a high paying or glamorous position, but working with her closest friends:
the ever-sarcastic Erika, the reliable IT guy Jeff and the impossibly good looking Tristan, Meredith knows she’s lucky to have her work and social lives blend so neatly. She’s learned the hard way, from a past she refuses to speak of, what can be lost while striving blindly for success.
With the arrival of a rigid new manager, Meredith’s world of work and play is turned upside down. The staff squares off on either side of the new rules. New faces surface, including a mysterious gentleman patron with an eclectic wardrobe, a charitable spirit and kind eyes whom Meredith begins to enjoy running into, despite an obvious age difference her friends are quick to point out.
The planning for an anniversary gala brings Meredith’s well-guarded past crashing headlong into her present and she must inevitably face-off with her demons. With help from her co-workers, especially Jeff, she takes on Dorothy and her pet employees while navigating through the library’s everyday drama of blossoming workplace love, run-ins with the law, fistfights with drunks, flashers hiding in the dark, leather-clad poets, and the occasional run-in with a guy who looks like a Wizard.
