This series is called the Vicious Vegetarians. With this current body of work I am trying to incorporate ideas of mass media with traditional modes of fine art. Instead of a few, expensive paintings, I want to make hundreds of cheaper, more affordable ones in order to reach out to a wider audience. I am appropriating a graphic, POP art style that merges cartoon characters and very bright colors (almost like a coloring book) to lure the viewer in, but the closer one looks, a cute yet dark story reveals wild animals situated in
living rooms with cloudy sky wallpapers and grassy carpets. They think they are outside and free, but they're not, they are just pets obsessing, murdering, and loving their food in the great indoors.
160 pages of paintings from the series "Vicious Vegetarians," by Michael Borja. The book also includes a coloring book section!
