This book provides a glimpse into the experiences of Melissa Kushner and Jeremy Kaplan as they lived and worked in Malawi for Goods for Good (www.goodsforgoodinternational.org) from July 2007 - January 2008. The material and pictures in the book were originally part of Melissa and Jeremy's blog while in Malawi (goodsforgood.blogspot.com). Goods for Good works with vulnerable children in Malawi and Liberia.
Goods for Good turns excess into progress. Our slogan is straightforward because our mission is straightforward. We collect surplus goods for targeted distribution to vulnerable children in Africa. Through partnerships with companies in the United States and caregivers in Africa, we are able to provide much needed school supplies, clothing and health and hygiene products to children in crisis, while at the same time reducing waste at home. We rely on the donation of surplus goods from a wide range of companies. In Africa, we build on the success of local caregivers and teachers by supplying them with the tools they need to care for and educate children.
