Between 11 en 18 July 2009 Yvonne Barnard, Jurjen Keessen and Dolf Middelhoff spent a week on the uninhabited Shiant Islands, situated in The Minch, the sea channel between Skye and Harris (Hebrides, Scotland).
This book is the result in words (poetry by Jurjen Keessen) and images (photography by Dolf Middelhoff).
This book comes best on paper with Matte finish.

After having been working as a graphic designer for almost thirty years, I retired into my hobby: photography. That ran a bit out of hand, as a result of which I started looking for means to have my photographic work published through exhibitions and books. Blurb gave me the opportunity I was looking for, photo books being more suitable for printing-on-demand than being printed in (large) quantities that eventually end up in second-hand bookstores.

And I really enjoyed it, a very good book! I am a bit envious, I wish I had had the chance to visit the Shiants. I have the book written by the owner of the island. And thank you for the nice words about my book from Røst. I have also made small books about Shetland, Outer Hebrides and Orkney, but not put so much work into them as the book from Røst. I am glad you liked it!
