Dinosaur attacks, homoerotic totalitarian statuary, replicas and simulacra, giant teddy bears, strange signs, swordfighting pedestrians, kimokawaii street clutter and incomprehensible buildings photographed on my travels through Europe, China and Japan.
My work is diverse and it encompasses video, animation, installation, photography, text, performance, sound works, programming, electronics, roleplaying games and various hybrid genres or formats derived from them. These commissions and self-initiated works have been seen and heard in digital media, on radio, television and the stage, in art galleries, at film and art festivals, in print and online. I've lived and worked in China and Japan, all over the UK and throughout Europe. Exhibitions include 'New Forest Pavilion' at La Biennale di Venezia, the International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA) in Nagoya, Japan and 'Broadcast Yourself', a survey of artists' works on and about television since the 1960s. In 2004 I was awarded a Berwick Gymnasium Artist Fellowship by English Heritage and the Arts Council of England. 2006-2007 I was artist in residence at the University of Edinburgh's ESRC Genomics Policy & Research Forum.
