When we replaced our cellphones in 2008, built-in cameras had become the norm. The camera was not fancy (one focal length, automatic exposure only), was low on the image quality side (2 megapixel and highly compressed, so forget about large blowups), and consistently inconsistent. Therefore it was natural to refer to them as a sort of “Digital Holga.” And like its namesake, making photos with it has proven to be as unpredictable, which is where the fun part comes in.
