Click to preview To Haiti, With Love photo book

This book is a compilation of narratives and pictures from students and professors from Upper Iowa University who traveled to Haiti in May of 2011. The team did construction work with Partners in Development (PID), a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is making a difference for the people of Haiti. Some of the group were seasoned travelers while others had never been on a plane, yet all came back transformed in one way or another. We hope you enjoy their stories, and are encouraged to do your own bit of work, no matter what that might be, to make a difference in the world.

About the Author

Neely Farren-Eller
Dr. Katrina Mcneely Farren-Eller: For as long as she can remember, neely, Assistant Professor of English at Upper Iowa University, has always been interested in why people believe what they believe and how they come to do what they do. Ultimately, it is about the ways in which our beliefs affect how we relate to and treat each other, especially others who live so differently than we do. For Neely, traveling and experiencing difference is one of the best ways to question the stories and judgments she tells about herself and others. She has come to find out that what matters most is the humanity we all share in common, not the differences that threaten to divide us.
