Along the Way on a Wedding Day is a wonderful story filled with bright and colorful collages. The story and all the art it contains, were created and designed by children!
Todd Bartel received a BFA in painting from RISD’s European Honors Program (Rome)in 1985 and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 1993. In 1990, Bartel was awarded the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, and in 2000, the Connecticut Council on the Arts Grant in praise of his “Garden Studies” drawing series. Bartel has taught at Harvard, Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Manhattanville College and Bridgeport University. He has been a guest critic at Rhode Island School of Design, and since 1999 has been an Artist-Teacher and guest critic at Vermont College’s MFA in Visual Art program, Montpelier, VT. Bartel teaches drawing, painting, sculpture, installation art and conceptual art at the Cambridge School of Weston (CSW), Weston, MA. Bartel is the founder and Director of the CSW’s Thompson Gallery, a teaching gallery dedicated thematic inquiry. Bartel's art assumes assembled forms of painting, drawing and sculpture that examine the roles of landscape and nature in contemporary culture.
