Throughout her life Alice Glynn battled various illnesses, broken bones and losses of loved ones. However throughout all of this she taught us, her family, to live with dignity through difficult circumstances.

In latter years Alice developed dementia and slowly began to retreat into her own world. Occasionally she had moments of clarity and in these moments particular topics always came up: Her love of the Catholic church, her love of her family and her one golden rule:

Even if you're spending the day looking at four walls, always look your best, because putting the effort in, will always make you feel better

In 2010 it became clear that Alice would not live to see the following Christmas.

So I decided to document her life, to show even though she was locked in her own world, she still had a way of letting us know she was there.

In Ireland living with  Dementia is rarely spoken about. Through photographing my grandmother's life with the illness, I hope to have shown how one can live with an incredibly debilitating illness but still remain true to who you are.

Alice passed away on August 23rd 2010 at the age of 85.
This is my tribute to a woman who even in death has given us hope.
