I have gathered thirty-six of my favorite haiku to date in this book, some that were written about my life in Japan, where I lived for several years, and some with a more indirect connection to Japan.

This is an excellent read. Neuman takes the reader through a cultural, historical and a personal journey through Japan. This is not the typical tourist's perspective of foreign country. Each haiku is based upon a true experience by Neuman. You feel the warmth of the furo, the crisp winter air in Tokyo, and how the author and his wife rise above the unsettling affects of the tsunami on his family. He makes me want to visit Japan. I didn't want the book to end.
