Sixty-one poems honor the desert experience by finding the river within. The exploration is often quiet, sometimes witty, frequenty metaphysical, sometimes sobering. The effect, though, is uplifting--and thought-provoking. "Rivers in the desert" is a biblical promise. The poems are secular in nature but speak to a deeply rooted trust in the process of life that allows the river to flow.
Ann Parks McCray lives and works in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she enjoys ocean, rivers, trees, lakes, water birds, blooming flowers--everything Mother Nature has to offer. Nature is often the focus of her paintings, poetry, and photography--and so, of her books. Her work is designed to inspire, calm, and restore. McCray in her own words: "We all tiptoe along a delicate path as we attempt further self-definition through self-expression. Thank you for marking this trail with me."
