"Over twenty years ago, I discovered this extraordinary nature center and it won my heart as an artist. First on exhibit, were my Japanese Gyotaku nature artworks followed by watercolors and oils featuring local wildflowers, California coastlines and international travels.
While looking for a new series that would celebrate this amazing facilty, I searched for a meaningful theme with a powerful message. Dedicating 101 days to paint 101 artworks was the answer. The everchanging imagery, captivating wildlife and migratory subjects provided endless inspirations.
Painting this consecutive challenge was a memorable acheivement. Like practicing musical scales on a flute, to paint every day takes devotion and endurance. I found the rewards spectacular. Color interactions, brushstroke effects and compositional designs were elements that I witnessed evolve to new levels. It was a joy to experience and is now visually exciting to gaze back over the entire project."
Profits from the sales of the original artworks and this book will be donated to the exhibits and operations of The Chula Vista Nature Center.
