Designing Health is a thesis built upon
the definition of health as a state of
complete physical, mental and social
well-being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity. As a result it aims to
incorporate mental and social health into
contemporary medical practice. By doing
so it purposes to change the sickness
experience. Making it different and, to a
degree healthier.
This thesis compiles both theory-based
research and practice-based research. As
health is such an intimate and subjective
subject, phenomenology was used as
a prompt. The resulting thesis includes
interviews, prototypes and experiences
all centred on finding varied health
experiences in order to find out ways in
which they can be altered.
