VERY LARGE LANDSCAPE FORMAT 33cm x 28cmA superb photographic album depicting the pinnacle of steam operations in Zimbabwe during 1982; a time when the Garratt refurbishment programme was still in full swing. A thoroughly comprehensive account of the many lines still worked by steam, which include Bulawayo - Thomson Junction - Victoria Falls, Gwelo main line, Selukwe branch, West Nicholson line, Fort Victoria line. Fantastic moody night photographs, both at sheds and in Bulawayo station. Mostly colour but including some stunning black and white full plate images. A full account of the steam locomotive scene then prevailing is included in the lively anecdotal text, as well as locomotive technical details. A full ( all pages) preview of the book is available.

This book is entirely "real steam", just the way it was. No tours, runpasts, arranged smoke, special trains. Just real steam doing real work, just the way it was.
