"New Paladin's Song" is the next tune in a long series sung by a lover of words. Written almost compulsively and unplanned during the course of seventy-three days of a Nebraska summer, and nearly as extensively edited in thirty more, this is the first group of his poems that the poet has decided not to destroy. They were all composed in one room in the hours away from his work.
These verses represent poetic forms both old and new. There are love songs to his muses, dedicatory pieces to his inspirations, flights of fancy and broad stroke illustrations of his beloved Nebraska. Most importantly, he feels that they may be the first 'honest' pieces that he has ever written.
The photographs are also the work of the poet and were all captured along one narrow corridor of Western Nebraska between North Platte and the Nebraska National Forest.

Pyotr Miley is my nom-de-plume but, in a lot of ways, it‘s a name that‘s always been a part of me. I'm a native of small-town Nebraska, a veteran of central Kansas ‘Centers’ and ‘burgs’ as well as big-city Europe, Colorado, Western Maryland and a Benedictine monastery or two. A lover of stories, I enjoy spinning words into tales and poems. Years of my scribblings found their way into garbage cans spread across several thousand miles before I finally took the time to re-examine what I was writing and found something I wanted to share.
I have always enjoyed writing and now that I've finally become comfortable enough with the thought that there are things that I say that other people might enjoying hearing, it’s time to stop discarding my words. I hope you enjoy them as much as I‘ve enjoyed saving them from oblivion. Time will tell if the effort has been worth it. For me AND for you.
