About the Book
This is a catalog of images and poetry about trees. Specifically the trees of Kopachuck State Park in Gig Harbor, WA. Artists respond to the impending demise of a mature forest due to disease and their work is exhibited at the Harbor History Museum in October, 2011. Included here are 27 images and 6 poems by 27 different artists.
Sketchbook in hand, I spend as much time as possible gathering artistic inspiration on wilderness adventures. My goal is to capture the intangibles, the smell of hiking in the rain, the rush of an incoming ocean tide, the thrill of a wildlife encounter. I put together my first book after an Artist in Residence summer in Glacier National Park and I can't seem to stop. I hope my books inspire your own wilderness explorations, even if it's in your own back yard. Enjoy!
