About the Book
Michael Field has been interested in golf and particularly the art and the methods of the golf swing since his early teens. Born in Weybridge (Surrey) he has been photographing some of the world's best golfers as they practice for some of the top events on the European Tour since 2001. This is his first golf book which covers some of his best golf course photographs and golf swing sequences since he took up digital photography in 2004.
The book concentrates on sequences and players at specific events; the PGA & World Matchplay at Wentworth (Surrey) from 2004 to 2007: The Wales Open and 2010 Ryder cup at the Celtic Manor Resort (Newport, Wales), and the Open Championship (Carnoustie, Royal Birkdale and at Royal St Georges, Sandwich) from 2007-2011.
Michael's book showcases some of the worlds best golf swings from such stars as Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, Tom Watson, Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington, Paul Lawrie and many more.
I am an artist, photographer and sculptor. I was born in Surrey, England in 1964 and I currently am based in Cardiff, Wales (UK) with my wife Karen. I've always enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpture and then photography and I've always enjoyed being out in the countryside whether this means studying nature, going for a walk or going abroad. After school in Weybridge (Surrey) I completed a Diploma in Art & Design at Epsom College and then a BA (hons) specialising in Painting at West Surrey College (Farnham) . I re-located to the lovely landscape of Wales in 2002, making sure I was near good landscape, good cinemas and a Championship Golf Course (Celtic Manor)! My interests include landscape photography (specialising in panoramas and the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales), nature photography (specialising in British and European butterflies) and also golf photography. I sculpted the Ivor Allchurch monument at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea which was unveiled in 2005.
