Richard Drummie of Go West, Martin Fry of ABC, Tony Hadley and their fellow adventurers have just returned from their fundraising Trek deep into the heart of Costa Rica in aid of Action Medical Research’s ‘Touching Tiny Lives’ campaign.
In taking on the Costa Rica Trek Richard, Martin and Tony followed in the footsteps of the daring Spanish Conquistadors who trekked across the dense rainforest of Costa Rica laden with Mexican Gold. The amazing scenery, beautiful indigenous wildlife and challenging environment that faced the conquistadors provided equally harsh challenges to Richard, Martin, Tony and their fellow trekkers as they made their way from the Pacific Coast to the Caribbean from March 09 to March 20th.
So why did Richard, Martin and all the Trekkers take on this amazing challenge? Its for the very best of reasons: The Touching Tiny Lives Campaign aims to help sick and vulnerable babies. Every year, 70,000 babies are born with problems and need special care, and 50,000 are born prematurely. The campaign focuses the funds raised on research into the causes and treatments for conditions that affect babies and expectant mothers.
This recent trek is not the first time the guys have swapped the lights and adoration of the stage for the challenges of the jungle in aid of Touching Tiny Lives. In February 2006 Richard, Martin and Tony led 35 trekkers through the misty cloud forests and dense jungle of Venezuela. The guys raised the incredible amount of over £75.000 for the cause during the Trek and the Lost World Trek DVD has swelled the coffers even more since then! After such an incredible success the guys were keen to contribute even more and this time they expect to raise even more money for this great cause!
