About the Book
Drawing on extensive research by “Aunt Tommy” (AT) (page 04.01) and Douglas, (page 06.01) my father’s brother, the original version of the material contained in this book was “published” in 2003 by myself in the form of over 100 interactive digital audio visual presentations. Virtually all members of the family under the Alan lineage (see page 05) received copies to run on their computers. For many reasons, I decided to convert the material to hard copy of which this book is the product. (I recognize this is opposite to today’s trends of going from hard copy to digital.) Updates, where provided, have been made to the 2003 material. Some re-alignment of the pages has also been done as have some typos been corrected. There were a number of the 2003 presentations done by narrations of letters or spoken recollections. Unfortunately that aspect could not be carried through and thus the voices of some of the family have been “lost” to this version. The letters and transcripts of the recollections however have been included. Due to availability of material, there is perhaps a disproportionate amount of the book dealing with the current generation of my direct family (see page 14.04). While consistency in both the content and format of information presented was sought, some inconsistency might have survived various reviews and edits. Fortunately I kept most of the original “pages” in their original working formats so I was able to enlarge them for this book and retain much of the original quality. There were, however, some pages for which the originals were “filed away safely” and could not be found, thus the reproduction quality has suffered more on those pages. Concurrent with the publication of this book, a second book, “The Collected Writings of Dick Robertson”, is also being published. A good portion of those writing deal with events within Dick’s immediate family as well as events within the larger family, that of Alan Robertson (see page 05).
