According to recent estimates, the population of Manhattan is 1,537,195. This book is comprised of dozens of those people. Some I simply passed on the street and with others I shared a smile or a chat. Always I did everything possible to get a photograph that undoubtedly was candid. I also spent time capturing the wonderful street art that covers the buildings of this city as well as the architecture, flowers and trees.
I believe a critical component of good photography is the ability of the photographer to capture the sentiment of what they see. What are the feelings or emotions hidden in that person or group of people? What is it about that building that stands out as special?
A photograph is the perfect way to capture the truth as it stands "in that moment" and hold on to it forever. I am pleased to share my captured moments with you and hope they move you as much as they did me.
I've included an index on the back pages for those of you interested in knowing where an image was spotted. Enjoy!
