Heart of Southern India"? After viewing the book I would be inclined to rename it "Heart to Heart in Southern India". This sensory visual compilation is not a travel book nor a tourist book; no famous places are depicted. Rather the content is a result of a personal, heartfelt journey through Southern India that conveys so well its underlying beauty and feeling. You can see in the eyes of the people that they are trustful and engaged in a delightful and heartfelt visual dialogue with the photographer. Even mother nature co-operated in this venture. The overall impression is quite immersive if you're willing to stray off the beaten track. The book is a fine art book in its finest sense. The images are vibrant, evocative and show remarkable sensitivity to the land and the people. This is rare amongst photographers.

Carolyn's images are powerful, insightful, evocative, energetic and free-flowing. The abstractions of the landscapes and objects heighten the viewer's awareness and sensitivity to the surroundings. The juxtaposition of colours and shapes is nothing short of brilliant. She sees images in a fresh and most imaginative way; her perceptions are truly moving. Her extensive travels have created the rich mosaic of experiences, sights and visual delights that guide her use of the camera and the images captured. The book is clearly a labour of love by the photographer. If you really want to experience the true beauty of India this book is certain to entice you.

Personally there are few photographers, professional or otherwise, that inspire me. Ms. Angus is one. She is an undiscovered artist of magnitude. Carolyn Angus is a seasoned visual artist, via photography.
