An essay that examines the almost lost art of the handwritten letter and their importance in preserving family stories. Inspired by a stack of letters my Dad wrote to his parents while in college in the 1950's, they spoke to me, revealing a side to my Dad I never knew. It is illustrated with his letters and family photos at this pivotal time in his life.
