Bumblefoot is a screech owl who helps his teenage roommate, her brother, and her boyfriend solve a murder and bring down a smuggling ring. Susan and her brother volunteer at a birds of prey rehabilitation center. As they work with the birds, they become aware that the birds, especially the owls are telepathic. When Susan Moore's uncle is killed outside the school cafeteria, birds and humans struggle to communicate. This communication makes the difference between life and death as the teenagers and the birds face ruthless killers and smugglers.
I wrote this book for teens and anyone else who likes mysteries, birds, and 'what if'. Birds of prey are my passion. For eight years I was a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, specializing in birds of prey. My children and I have had up close and personal contact with birds similar to those I write about. A non-releasable owl much like Bumblefoot was a star of some of the presentations I gave at The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City, Oregon. I have also given birds of prey presentations at The High Desert Museum near Bend, Oregon.
