"A Passion for Canada's High Places" is a collection of some of the mountain photography gathered by Laszlo Hulicsko during the time he has lived, worked, and travelled throughout the mountains of Western Canada. These experiences have taken him through the beauty and wonder of the Rocky Mountains, into the lush Coast Mountain Range, and more recently into the rugged Purcell and Selkirk Ranges of the Columbia Mountains. The lakes and waterways, the forests and meadows, the glaciers and stunning views from up high are all a part of the inspiration and illumination that the mountains provide for those willing to go seek out their redeeming qualities. This book tries to capture some small part of that greater quality of the mountains that both inspires us and grounds us at the same time and reminds us all of how valuable these vanishing wild places really are.
Originally from the Canadian praries, Les currently resides in the East Kootenays of British Columbia. He has also spent time in Canmore and Calgary and has had the great pleasure of working in both Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park and Bugaboo Provincial Park. With a love of hiking, scrambling, mountaineering, canoeing, bike touring, and camping, his camera is usually not far from his side as he tries to capture those moments in the beautiful outdoors which tell his story.
