CHAT-ROOM
Chat-room is the result of a project that took place online in a live Chat-room; whereby the artist engaged in dialogue with users and, drew their portraits during each interview. During the project the artist was privy to intimate details of the characters portrayed which, otherwise would not have been divulged to a complete stranger in the physical world. Here the lines of intimacy and privacy become blurred between the 'virtual workday' and the world of 'physicality'. The saying, "nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors", comes to mind when one looks at society. Ordinary people about their ordinary lives appear to be just that, ordinary people. Many of those the artist engaged with were ordinary people; daring to express their darker sides in the virtual world, where they feel safe to do so and where they are not judged.
