Outside the Box was my first major digital
imaging project using Photoshop as an editing tool to modify photographs.
The trigger to start this project was the release of an archival dye set for the Epson 3000 printer in 1998.
My intent was to produce images the echoed various print making mediums; Etching, or
Intaglio, Lithographs and Serigraphs.
The first prints were made in 1998, and as soon as I had 3 successful images, I began submitting to juried exhibitions in 1999. I continued
working with this concept through to 2002.
The images were complex, often comprising of 60 to 70 stacked layers to achieve the print
The world presents itself and I observe. There are times the observation becomes an obsession. Sometimes, a casual encounter. These moments become the photographs I interpret by exaggeration or simplification. I have been an exhibitor since 1969; exhibiting photographs, painting and prints through 150 exhibitions, primarily in US university, college, and community galleries in 31 American States; in BC, Alberta, Ontario and in web galleries in Canada, Australia, China, Thailand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States. I now publish books of current and past projects as a means of closure and completion. My images are marketed in the United States by PrintedArt.com and are also available on Amazon.com Born and educated in Alberta, I moved to the coast in 1984, and have been living in Victoria since 1986. .
